MEET OUR TEACHERS
Ballet Teacher , Choreographer, and Company Teacher
Christy has been teaching dance for 20 years. She is a graduate of Wright State University and national member of Dance Masters of America. Before moving to TN with her husband Doug and two children Christy owned a successful dance studio in Dayton, OH. Her choreography credits include award winning dances at competitions, school musicals, parades, and various recreational centers. Her teaching methods are developmentally appropriate as well as nurturing. She strives to bring the most up-to-date teaching styles and techniques by continuing her dance through workshops and seminars. DWS is so fortunate to have a great teacher like Christy on our teaching staff again this year.
Drama and Art Teacher
Originally born in Gainesville, FL he now calls
Murfreesboro home. He received formal art training at the
Florida School of the Arts and the University of Florida.
Additionally, Eric has been heavily involved in drama since 1999
and has had the opportunity to write, direct, and act in
productions throughout middle Tn. Eric has found his niche in
teaching kids and hopes that "his kids" will see art and drama
as exciting and fun opportunities for creativity. Our kids
have been enriched by Mr. Eric's talents for the past 3 years.
Martial Arts Director
Since 1987, Smith's Martial Arts has been
providing instructing Tang Soo Do and the martial arts in
Murfreesboro, TN. Mr. Smith is the head instructor for Tang Soo
Do at Middle Tennessee State University. He is also the head
instructor for several extended school programs. Mr. Smith was
trained in several styles and has blended these arts to make the
unique Tang Soo Do. Mr. Smith holds a 4th degree black belt
(master level) in Tang Soo Do. We welcome Smith's Martial Arts
back for a 3rd season.
Children's combo and hip hop Teacher and class assistant
Sam began her love for dance before she was 20 months old and still holds the record of being Ms. Stacey's youngest student. She received her 15th anniversary award with "Dance with Stacey" in 2009. She was a three year member of the Smyrna High school dance team and also earned a dance scholarship to King College which she attended in 2010. Currently she helps with choreography/technique for the Roy Waldron Dance Team and is the NexGen intern at Lifepoint Church in Smyrna. Sam is so excited to be lead children's teacher for our Saturday class program as well as teaching children's hip hop and assisting Ms. Stacey in several combo classes. This is Sam's 2nd season on staff and we could not be more pleased.
Hip Hop Teacher
Kat is a Knoxville, TN native with over 16 years of dance training in all types of dance. She has found her specialty to be in teaching hip hop, contemporary, and jazz. She loves the excitement of traveling the southeast as one of Universal Dance Association's lead instructors and judges. She was also a member and captain of the MTSU Dance Team while attending college. She is now married and resides in Nashville with her husband. Fall of 2012 we welcomed Kat for her first teaching season here at Dance with Stacey and we are glad to have her back for a second season.
Music and Voice Teacher
Amy is a graduate of MTSU with a degree in Music Education. She has 16 years experience teaching music to all ages. Currently, she is the music teacher at Stewarts Creek Elementary. She also shares her love of music with many area students with private piano lessons. Amy believes children should be exposed to music of all genres, and that music enhances all areas of learning. She like to incorporate multi-cultural songs and instruments, movement and drama into her classes. Amy has helped out here at Dance with Stacey with our Afterschool program shows and summer camps over the past couple of years. We welcome Amy here on a weekly basis this fall.
